Acupuncture
Nancy Bilello, RN, L.Ac.
Nancy graduated from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese
Medicine in 1998 and has been in private practice for seven years.
She is nationally board certified by the National Coordinating
Committee for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and licensed in the
state of Colorado. Nancy received a nursing degree from Nassau
Community College in Garden City, New York, in 1988. She has seven
years of oncology nursing experience at University of Colorado
Hospital and nine years in home health care for oncology patients
and people with diabetic, respiratory, and cardiac problems. Nancy
has a special interest in using acupuncture as a complement to
oncology treatment and is also experienced in treating chronic
pain, internal medicine disorders, and women's issues.
Dallas Cox, L.Ac.
Dallas Cox received his bachelor of science from the University of
California, San Diego, in 1986 and is a licensed acupuncturist. He
is nationally board certified in acupuncture and Chinese Herbal
Medicine by the National Coordinating Committee for acupuncture and
Oriental medicine with licensure in the state of Colorado. Dallas
received his training from the Colorado School of Traditional
Chinese Medicine, which included three and a half years of study
and an additional year and a half of clinical experience. Following
his schooling, he worked and studied for two years under Dr. Lixin
Zhang, a 10th-generation acupuncturist from China. He received
further training for Dr. Zhang in general medicine and areas of
specialization including asthma, pediatrics, post-stroke care, and
head-injury recovery. In addition, his interests and experience
include treatment of allergies, digestive problems, insomnia,
menstrual conditions, muscular/skeletal pain, migraines and
headaches, and smoking cessation.
Sherri Giamarvo, L.Ac.
Sherri Giamarvo graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of
Colorado in Boulder. After twelve years experience in the financial
industry she realized she enjoys working with people more than
numbers and embarked on a new career in healthcare. She graduated
from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2001
and moved to Asheville, North Carolina, where she practiced
acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine full-time in a busy,
well-established acupuncture clinic. During her three year
residency, she treated and cared for patients of all ages while
practicing under the mentorship of the clinic director. Sherri also
studied extensively under a Chinese master of acupuncture and
herbal medicine and has taught classes in acupuncture. She is
nationally board certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbal
medicine by the National Coordinating Committee for Acupuncture and
Oriental Medicine with licensure in the state of Colorado.
Scott Clemensen, MD
Dr. Scott Clemensen was born and raised in Boulder, and he
attended medical school in Albany, N.Y. During his Family Medicine
residency in Rochester, NY, he completed training in medical
acupuncture. After his residency, he enjoyed three years of running
his own integrated private practice in western New York's Finger
Lakes region. Dr. Clemensen came home to Colorado and to Kaiser
Permanente in 2008. He divides his practice time between the
Westminster Family Medicine clinic and the Centers for
Complementary Medicine, providing medical acupuncture that is based
on evidence. This unique combination allows him to provide members
with an integrated mind, body, and spirit approach to personal
health and disease management. He especially enjoys helping members
with chronic pain achieve improved function and decreased
dependence on medication with research proven acupuncture
protocols.
Stephanie Wilson, L.Ac.
Stephanie holds a BA from the University of Colorado, a MS
from Mankato State University and a Master's Degree in Oriental
Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College. She is licensed in the
state of Colorado and is nationally board certified in acupuncture
and Chinese herbal medicine by the National Coordinating Committee
for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. After graduation from
acupuncture school, she studied extensively with Whitfield Reaves
in the specialty of sports medicine acupuncture, completed a six
month intensive apprenticeship and currently assists the teaching
of Whitfield's trainings and seminars. Her past experiences also
include: faculty member of Southwest Acupuncture College, team
acupuncturist for the Denver Roller Dolls roller derby team and
working as an EMT. She specializes in the treatment of both acute
and chronic injuries and pain.
Chiropractic
Sheri Brown, DC
Dr. Sheri Brown has been practicing chiropractic care for 13
years. She is a graduate of Palmer Chiropractic University in San
Jose, California, and practiced in California for six years before
relocating with her family to Colorado. In addition to
chiropractic, Dr. Brown has a special interest in treating various
conditions in children through nutrition. She has received
certification to treat autism, attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD), and acid reflux disorders.
John Hanks, DC
Dr. John Hanks has been in solo chiropractic practice since 1974.
He is a diplomat of the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedics
and is certified as a chiropractor. He is a graduate of Bradley
University and the National College of Chiropractic and holds a
master's degree in Health Care Systems from the University of
Denver. Dr. Hanks has served on the faculty of Colorado College of
Chiropractic and is a visiting professor at the Waseda School of
Healing in Tokyo, Japan. He has taught on the postgraduate
faculties of three chiropractic colleges and has served as a
consultant to the insurance industry on many occasions. Dr. Hanks
has also served as a consultant to complementary and alternative
medicine clinics and massage schools.
Carrie Lachermeier, DC
Dr. Carrie Lachermeier graduated from Logan College of
Chiropractic in 2000 and has been in active practice for six years.
She has a wide variety of experience in chiropractic with a strong
focus on injury rehabilitation and on helping her patients improve
musculoskeletal strength through healthy lifestyle choices,
chiropractic, and massage. Dr. Lachermeier encourages all her
patients to enjoy a variety of activities and to learn to listen to
their bodies. She is very passionate about her work and committed
to helping her patients realize their fullest potential in
wellness. Dr. Lachermeier enjoys providing excellent chiropractic
care and education to patients, physicians, and staff at Kaiser
Permanente.
Borden Smith, DC
Dr. Borden Smith has been in active chiropractic practice for 17
years. He graduated cum laude from Life Chiropractic College in
1986 and owned a practice in Burlington, Vermont, for five years.
After selling his practice he moved to Evergreen, Colorado, where
he has practiced for the last 12 years. Dr. Smith provides
comprehensive chiropractic care to hundreds of patients. He brings
enthusiasm and excitement to Kaiser Permanente and enjoys providing
excellent chiropractic service and education to patients, doctors,
and staff.
Catherine A. Valen, DC
Dr. Catherine Valen graduated from Life Chiropractic College in
1986 and has been in active practice for the last 21 years. In
addition to chiropractic, Dr. Valen has extensive experience in
other areas of health care, including certification as an athletic
trainer, a degree in nutrition, and special training in
post-traumatic brain injury. For the last 19 years, she has
specialized in difficult or resistant cases that require special
techniques or considerations, and her patients have been known to
travel from other states to work with her. Dr. Valen loves her work
and is extremely committed to providing thorough and excellent care
to all of her patients, helping them reach their highest wellness
potential and health goals. She brings her passion, enthusiasm, and
experience to Kaiser Permanente.
John Waring, DC
Dr. John Waring received a bachelor of science from Michigan State
University in 1981 and received his chiropractic training and
degree at Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia, in 1985.
He has been practicing chiropractic in the Denver/Aurora area since
1986. His practice focuses on neuromusculoskeletal disorders,
including sports injuries. Dr. Waring has a private practice in
addition to his work with Kaiser Permanente, and he previously
worked at a chronic pain clinic directed by two medical doctors. He
was selected as a participating provider in a chronic neck pain
research study performed in conjunction with doctors of
chiropractic and medical doctors at the University of Colorado
Health Sciences Center. Currently Dr. Waring is on the advisory
board for Columbine Chiropractic Plan, and he has acted as a
proctor for the Colorado State Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
Justin Dukes, DC, CSCS
Dr. Justin Dukes received a Bachelor of Science degree in
Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Vermont and then
went on to complete his Doctor of Chiropractic training at Western
States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon. As a
chiropractor with a passion for fitness and functional movement, he
blends his unique skills as chiropractic physician and functional
fitness trainer to improve his patients as fast as physically
possible. In his practice, Dr. Dukes utilizes thorough functional
evaluations and treatments, Graston Technique, Active Release
Technique, functional neurology, and spinal and extremity
adjusting.
Meghan Dukes, DC, MSPT
Dr. Meghan Dukes attended Boston University where she completed
both a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Studies and a Master of
Science degree in Physical Therapy. After spending time in a
few different realms of physical therapy practice, she returned to
the academic world and completed her Doctor of Chiropractic degree
at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon. Dr.
Dukes moved to Denver in 2007 and has since joined the Kaiser
Permanente Center for Complementary Medicine. Her treatments
focus on a balance of both chiropractic therapy and manual muscle
work utilizing both Active Release Technique (ART) and Graston
Technique.
Ron Malpiede, DC
Dr. Ron Malpiede is a Colorado native, completing under graduate
education at Auraria campus and graduated from Cleveland
Chiropractic College K.C. in 1976. Dr. Malpiede completed post
graduate Orthopedic training through National College and holds a
certificate of completion in Chiropractic Orthopedics through Los
Angeles College of Chiropractic. Southern California University of
Health and Science and developed graduate research projects in
biomechanics at the University of Denver department of Sports
Science.
Jason Markijohn, DC
Dr. Jason Markijohn, D.C. completed his undergraduate
studies at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania. In 2000, He completed
his graduate studies at Sherman College of Chiropractic and
received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in December of that
year.Since graduating, Dr. Jason has completed over 200 hours of
continuing education with a focus on human nutrition, muscle
strengthening/rehabilitation, and core muscle stabilization. Dr.
Jason is a native of Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Colorado in
October of 2006. He is a diehard fan of the Steelers and Penguins.
Outside of the office, you may see Dr. Jason playing ice hockey,
running with his Siberian Huskies, at the gym or attending a live
music show. Dr. Jason's family and loved ones are an integral part
of his life. He thanks all of them for their continued love and

Massage Therapy
Brook Henry, CMT
Brook is a nationally certified massage therapist who graduated
with honors from the Community College of Denver (CCD) with an
applied science degree with an emphasis in massage therapy. Brook
has completed over 1,000 hours of massage training. In addition to
working at the Kaiser Permanente Center for Complementary Medicine,
Brook has her own private massage practice. At CCD, she was a
professor's assistant in the Swedish Massage Therapy class, taught
the Ethics for Massage Therapists class, and served as director of
the massage clinic.
Mark Perez, CMT
Mark graduated from the Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy in
Broomfield, CO in December 2007, and has been working with Kaiser
since then. Mark provides orthopedic, neuromuscular, and
sports massage. Mark is also a full time Physical Therapist
Assistant student at Arapahoe Community College. Mark hopes
to work in a sports clinic one day, but plans on continuing to
provide massage therapy with Kaiser Permanente.
Valerie Simo, CMT
Valerie received her education at the Academy of Health Sciences,
in 1982 where she graduated as a massage therapist. Valerie
also received her National Certification of Therapeutic Massage and
body work, in 1994; graduated from Colorado School of Healing Arts
in 2002 as a Certified Massage Therapist. Valerie earned her
AOS degree from Colorado School of Healing Arts in 2004.
Valerie continues to attend ongoing classes and Seminars regarding
Ortho-Bonomy ®, Cranial Therapy, Trauma Touch Therapy and Essential
Oils. The services that Valerie provides at the Center for
Complementary Medicine are: Swedish massage, deep tissue massage,
and treatment regarding Cranial Sacral, reflexology, polarity, and
Ortho-Bionomy ® treatment which occurs within classes and
services.
Alison Stoltz, CMT
Alison graduated from the Cortiva Institute in 2007. She
incorporates various techniques including Deep Tissue, Swedish
Massage, Neuromuscular, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy
and Healing Touch. Her emphasis is on restorative and relaxation
techniques to promote physical, mental and spiritual growth. Alison
strongly believes in continuing education. She received her
certification in Pre and Perinatal Pregnancy Massage in October
2010 and was certified as a Level II Reiki practitioner in April
2011. In addition to working in Kaiser Permanente's Center for
Complementary Medicine, she has had her own private practice since
2008, which is now located in Lakewood.
Stephanie Jackson, CMT
Stephanie is a graduate of the Colorado School of Healing
Arts with 700 hours of massage training, and is licensed in the
state of Colorado. She has training in Swedish, Deep Tissue,
Sports, Pre-Natal and Polarity modalities. Stephanie is planning to
continue her education in 2012, taking Cranial Sacral classes. She
feels it is very important to keep up on education for her own
knowledge and for the benefit of her patients. Stephanie also
believes in eating healthy to help prevent illness, and lives her
life as an example by eating healthy, working out, and educating
others on the benefits of massage and healthy eating. She is
happily married and a mother of three young children who light up
her life and she enjoys spending time outdoors as a family;
Stephanie lives a very active, busy and fun life!
Hannah Beggs, CMT
Hannah received her massage therapy certification in September
2011 by completing the 700-hour program at Colorado School of
Healing Arts. She also completed the Associate of Occupational
Studies program offered by the school in June 2012. Her AOS
included advanced training in Neuromuscular Therapy and
Oncology/Medical Massage. Hannah spent over 25 hours interning at
Porter Hospital and Hospice of St. John's working on patients with
cancer, other illnesses, and end of life stages. She has training
in Healing Touch and attends a monthly clinic to keep herself
grounded. It gives her a genuine sense of joy to see the anatomical
and physiological responses the human body can have from touch
alone. Hannah believes body awareness and the power of
patient/client knowledge can set a foundation to allow the body to
heal from within. She enjoys spending time with her rescued dog and
admires the beauty of nature that is all around us.
Bea Green, CMT, CEBS
Bea graduated from the Colorado School of Healing Arts in
June 2011.The massage modalities Bea provides are Swedish, Deep
Tissue, Neuromuscular, Pre-Natal, Sports, and Trigger Point
Pressure Release. In addition to working at the Kaiser Permanente
Center for Complementary Medicine, Bea has her own private
massage practice in Evergreen plus is a therapist at TallGrass Day
Spa. She believes that we all need to take time for ourselves
away from our stress-filled lives and, in one way or another,
embrace self-care & healthy choices every day. Massage can help
quiet your mind so you can listen to your body.
Autumn Nation, CMT
Autumn graduated from Colorado School of Healing Arts in
March of 2012. Autumn was trained in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports
Massage, and trigger point therapy. She also has experience with
Reiki, Healing Touch, and Prenatal massage. In addition to working
at Kaiser Permanente, Autumn shares a private practice in Parker.
She is also a Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years collective
experience in health care. Autumn's goal is to integrate her
western and eastern medicine backgrounds in order to provide a
client-centered holistic approach to healthcare.
Samantha Hemesath, CMT
Samantha graduated from the Denver School of Massage Therapy in
August 2012. The massage modalities Samantha provides are Swedish,
Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular, Pre-Natal, Sports/Movement and
Structure, Cranial Sacral, Reflexology, Russian, and Trigger Point
Pressure Release. In addition to working at the Kaiser Permanente
Center for Complementary Medicine, Samantha has her own private
massage practice in Capital Hill and is a massage therapist at
Massage Envy as well. She believes in affordable, consistent, and
genuine therapy for all ages. She strongly believes in the unique
wellness plan per client when using the communicative combination
of the chiropractor, physical therapist, nutritionist,
acupuncturist, and massage therapist. Samantha believes that it
is imperative to recognize and utilize natural meditation
along with the human touch in order to balance the mind,
body, and spirit within yourself.
Sierra Robinson, CMT
Sierra graduated from Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado
in August 2012 with 900 hours training in Integrative Massage
Techniques, with emphasis on ameliorating stress syndromes,
myoskeletal imbalance, neuromuscular dysfunction and soft tissue
impairment. Her training included Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue
Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, Spa techniques, Hot Stone Massage,
and Prenatal Massage. Sierra graduated from the
University of Denver in 2001 with a BA in International Studies and
Spanish, which led her to a career in Bilingual Customer Service
and Healthcare advocacy for people with Disabilities. Sierra is a
Certified Yoga Teacher and graduated from the Pranayoga Ayurveda
Mandala in 2004 with 265 hours of Contemplative Hatha Yoga
training. Sierra also became passionate about the healing power of
Essential Oils in 2006 and is trained in Raindrop Therapy. Sierra
believes in an integrative approach to wellness and likes to
include self-care recommendations and yoga postures to help her
massage clients find relief from pain.
